Sara Gillespie, a leader in Roswell’s educational community, has announced her candidacy for the Fulton County School Board District 1 in the May 21st election. Sara has a strong commitment to the success of every student demonstrated by her support of foundational academic studies, open communication, and teamwork. “In my leadership roles, I bring strong working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and community members to the table. And as a mother of two children attending Fulton County Public Schools, I share personally in the success of our educational system.”
Sara and her husband Joe moved to Roswell eight years ago to raise their family. Roswell’s parks and recreation programs, homes with yards where children can play, and the friendly welcoming community are the attributes that brought them to North Fulton County. In 2019, they started their national business in finance and consulting. “Fostering fiscal responsibility in managing the $2 billion school board budget is critical so that resources are allocated efficiently to benefit the children and the taxpayers. My professional experience is unique in this election to rise to that continuing challenge.”
Sara’s passion for education and community service began early and advanced during her professional career in college admissions. During her tenure, Sara initiated and managed budgets, directed community outreach, created communication strategies, managed recruitment and volunteer roles supporting continued education for women and children. She earned a B.A. in Mass Communication.
Sara is currently the Co-President of the Mountain Park Elementary PTA, driving school community involvement and focusing resources on purposeful, student benefiting academic activities and endeavors. As a leader in the collaborative effort to establish the school’s Science Lab, the team successfully realized the goal of providing a firsthand learning opportunity to all grade levels. The lab experience also provides interdisciplinary education and a deeper understanding of county academic standards. Additionally, Sara has demonstrated her leadership abilities with various community organizations, notably as Secretary of the Roswell Youth Lacrosse Board and the Co-President of the Mother’s Guild of the Catholic Church of Saint Ann.
As your District 1 representative on the Fulton County School Board, Sara pledges accountability, collaboration, and innovative solutions. She will serve with integrity to harness the opportunities to bring the highest quality standard of academic achievement for all students. “I will champion our students as they achieve their potential in becoming successful community members.” Early voting for Georgia’s School Board Elections is April 29-May 17. Election Day is Tuesday, May 21st.
